Central Ferry Canyon Road follows Central Ferry Canyon from the east side of the Columbia River a mile or two south of Brewster up through a state wildlife recreation area onto the north end of the Waterville Plateau. Habitats include riparian brush along the stream, shrub-steppe and grassland on the canyon slopes and ponderosa pine forest in the upper reaches of the canyon (Packwood Memorial Cemetery site). The whole area apparently burned in summer of 2012 but much of the pine forest and some of the riparian shrubs survived.
