Ponderosa pine forest and sagebrush meadows at the top of Central Ferry Canyon south of Brewster. The road to the cemetery turns left off Central Ferry Canyon Rd NW 4.9 miles up from Cranes Rd NW about 2 miles SW of Brewster. Partly cloudy, 54F, mostly calm. Cara, Asta and I stopped along Central Ferry Canyon Rd about a third of a mile below the turnoff to Packwood Cemetery in an area of mixed pine-aspen forest with vine maple understory, much of it burned last summer. We watched and listened for about an hour.
