The town of Ocean Shores is situated on a sandy peninsula about eight miles long and two miles wide on the north side of the channel where Gray's Harbor opens into the Pacific Ocean. The west side of the peninsula is a long sandy beach. The town features a golf course and a series of long narrow freshwater lakes; most of the peninsula has been developed for single family residential housing in coniferous forest, shrub and dune grass habitat, depending on proximity to the beach. Sunny, mid-70's, light N breeze. ABC field trip stop on the beach at the Damon Road access point to view large flock of shorebirds. Tide low. Lots of people disturbing the birds.
