Pend Oreille County Park consists of about 300 acres of mixed coniferous forest along US Hwy 2 about 14 miles west of Newport. Habitats include small meadows and selectively logged areas as well as closed canopy mature 2nd growth and some riparian undergrowth. The park hosts a lightly-used semi-primitive campground and a network of trails through the woods.
Partly cloudy, 35F, calm.
I hiked and ran the Big Loop trail clockwise from the park entrance around to the Arrowleaf Ridge trail, then took that and the Ginger's End trails back to camp.
